E. Ruth Blakey

I was born and raised in Jasper Alberta and have always loved the wonderful mountain landscapes and wild flowers of this area of Alberta.

I have always enjoyed drawing and painting, about 8 years ago I started taking formal lessons, first in Coloured Pencil with Olya Bociurkiuw and later 2 years of weekly lessons with watercolour artist Ruth Daynes. I have also taken watercolour workshops with Willie Wong and Nick Prins. I have shown my work in shows at Salisbury Green House, for the Arts Society of Strathcona County, Emerging Artists Society, Maverick Brewery, and Spetrum Gallery.

I enjoy working in both watercolour and coloured pencil and have been experimenting with combining both mediums. Using soft watercolour background with the realism of coloured pencil for the subject matter of the picture.
